Beth Weinhouse has spent much of her career in journalism, both in-print and online. She’s been an editor at magazines including Ladies’ Home Journal, Self, Parenting, Prevention, Physicians’ Life, Redbook, and Reader’s Digest. While she specializes in health and wellness journalism, she’s also edited and written book reviews, news reports, investigations, travel writing, cookbooks, memoirs, and celebrity profiles for dozens of publications including New York Newsday, the Los Angeles Times Magazine, Travel & Leisure, Town & Country, Columbia Magazine, and many, many more. Under her editorship, Conceive Magazine won a coveted Gold Folio award. She’s a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists. She has taught magazine feature writing at Montclair State University and academic writing at Tianjin University in China. Her first book was The Healthy Traveler, with information for people about how to stay healthy when away from home. Her second book, co-written with Leslie Laurence, was Outrageous Practices: How Medicine Mistreats Women, investigating how gender bias—often unintentional—has harmed women’s health. 20 over 60 is the second book of fiction that Weinhouse has edited; the first, 20 over 40, was a sort of prequel.
